We should have a template that generates emails to customers when their order ships.

Template variables should contain their order#, the channel-order# and the tracking number, at minimum.

This template should allow injection of extra sections in the email body from other modules. For instance, if the Shipment is going out via UPS/MI, the UPS Module could inject a paragraph explaining how Mail Innovations works, and inform the customer that they can track their package via UPS.com. That should make customers happy, since they can see tracking available right away. Channel-Specific modules could also add channel-specific stuff, about feedback.

We should carefully read various channel guidelines on this. It sure would be nice if we could legitimately domain-name-drop, since that could drive users to the B2C web shop for future purchases. However, that may not be allowed by greedy channels.
